Announcement: Spring 2026 Graduate Thesis Submission Process
A. Eligibility:
- Those who have passed the qualification examination (comprehensive examination, foreign language examination) by 2025-2 semester
- Students enrolled in the 2026-1 semester (leave of absence students are not eligible)
In the period of leave of absence, it is not possible to submit the research proposal. Please be enrolled for the following semester if you wish to submit your thesis proposal.
-If the eligibility requirements are not met based on the results of the 2026 Spring semester course enrollment, there is a possibility that the submitted research proposal may be withdrawn.
- Those who can fulfill the graduation requirements, including 1 semester of DIRECTED RESEARCH 1
(For doctoral students, enrollment in DIRECTED RESEARCH 2 for two semesters)
note that DIRECTED RESEARCH course enrolled before passing the comprehensive exam will not be counted towards your graduation requirements.*Kindly note that you will be automatically enrolled for DIRECTED RESEARCH 1/2.
B. Procedure for the Research Proposal submission:
- Period: February 12 (Thu) 2026 ~ March 17 (Tue) 2026 (deadline cannot be extended)
- Academic portal system → Academic administration → Graduation → Graduation Evaluation Type → 학위논문 Thesis → Click Designation → ☆Consent to the graduate thesis ethics commitment☆ → Submit Research Proposal on Yonsei Portal → (Approval) Thesis Advisor → Submission of the approved copy of the proposal to the department office → (Approval) Department Office → (Approval) Graduate School
*Considering the time required for approval by the Thesis Advisor, Department Office, and Graduate School, please submit your proposal before the deadline.
** The English name on the Yonsei portal will be used in all certificates. Please ensure that the English name on the Yonsei portal matches the English name written on your passport.
C. Thesis Evaluation Committee Selection:
Students should submit the name list of the thesis evaluation committee to the Yonsei portal by March 17 (Tue) 17:00.
- Period: February 12 (Thu) 2026 ~ March 17 (Tue) 2026 (deadline cannot be extended)
*In principle, the list of examiners approved by the department through the academic portal cannot be changed.
However, if a change is unavoidable, a modification request may be submitted through the administrative office with a valid reason provided.
Change request period: February 12 (Thu) 2026 ~ April 24 (Fri) 2026(Changes will not be permitted under any circumstances after this period.)
D. Plagiarism Check (Mandatory)
-Please remember to submit your Plagiarism Inspection Results before submitting the thesis.
E. Preliminary Evaluation
- Period: March 24 (Tue) 2026 ~ April 24(Fri) 2026
Since the department office has to submit the preliminary evaluation results by the 25th of April, students are expected to complete their evaluation by the 24th of April.
*Within the above period, the department will set its own pre-evaluation schedule. There is a high possibility that the preliminary evaluation will be scheduled during the midterm exam period (April 20 – April 24). The exact schedule will be finalized later at the faculty meeting.
F. Final Evaluation
- Period: May 22 (Fri) 2026 ~ June 19(Fri) 2026
Since the department office has to approve/submit the final evaluation results by the 20th of June to the Graduate School, students are expected to complete their evaluation by at least the 19th of June. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee that the reports will be approved on time.
*Within the above period, the department will set its own final evaluation schedule. There is a high possibility that the final evaluation will be scheduled during the final exam period (June 15 – June 19). The exact schedule will be finalized later at the faculty meeting.
G. Submission of the final thesis (contingent on the library schedule)
- Online Submission Period: July 2 (Thu) 2026 ~ July 10 (Fri) 2026 13:00
*Hardbound thesis submission is no longer required starting from the Spring semester of the 2025 academic year.
